How many slides can fit onto a CD or DVD?
We can fit approximately 600 slides onto a CD. This number will vary based on the resolution of the scanned image. If you have more slides than can fit onto one CD, we can separate them onto several CD's or onto DVD's.
What order do you transfer my slides?
If you have a preferred sequence, please label each slide, or if they are in a carousel/cartridge, label each cartridge. If the slide holder is not numbered, please mark the first slide.
Can you custom name my files or put my images into separate folders on the CD/DVD?
Due to the high number of slides that are scanned in an average order and our daily scan totals, we cannot offer to custom name your scanned images. Typically we will separate your carousels or sleeves into separate folders and name each image as 001, then 002, etc. You can easily rename your files after you receive the CD/DVD back.
What is a "Custom Grouping"?
While transferring your slides into digital files, we can separate the digital picture files into seperate folders. Each folder (Group) can be named to help you organize your images.
Do you crop and rotate scanned images?
We will manually rotate images to the correct orientation for no additional charge. However, there may be additional charges for cropping.
I numbered my 35mm slides and photos. Will the numbers on the images/files match the numbers on my photos?
We cannot guarantee that every image will match up with the number on the back of each picture or slide. This would require looking at each picture, once again, and checking it to the image on the computer and comparing names and numbers. This would be more than could be expected and too labor intensive for our low prices. The scanning is semi-automated and, if a slide is bent or defective, it may not feed correctly and will be skipped. (This does not happen often but it does happen and so we only charge for the actual scans that we do.) This would throw off the batch renaming of the images. The purpose of your numbering should be to keep the photos in proper order, not to ID them.
Do I have to pay for scanning separately when ordering a photo montage?
Yes. The scanning fees are separate from montage creaton fees. We have to scan your slides in order to make them into digital files. Then we can make the Slideshow Movie out of those files in addition to giving you archival quality image files on cd for use in your computer and to make reprints.
